Summary of Position

The Maintenance Associate is responsible for supporting the general warehouse operations of Kanbe’s Markets. They will work under the supervision of the Fleet and Equipment Technician to complete tasks related to building cleanliness, upkeep, basic functionality, and address maintenance issues as received. Tasks may include the use of tools, equipment, heavy machinery and vehicles. Training will be provided for equipment needed for the completion of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

Core Duties & Responsibilities

 

General Warehouse

  • Maintain organization, cleanliness and work flow of warehouse spaces and Kanbes property.
  • Manage trash and recycling levels within warehous.
  • Respond to maintenance service requests.
  • Operation of equipment including: cardboard baler, forklift, etc.

 

Fleet & Equipment

  • Support fleet maintenance logistics.
  • Perform routine fleet inspections and recordkeeping.
  • Partner store equipment inspections and logistics.

 

Administration

  • Support recordkeeping and calendar scheduling for maintenance of warehouse equipment and Kanbe’s fleet.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Able to lift 40lbs
  • Ability to be on one’s feet for long periods of time
  • Valid drivers license
  • Familiarity with common tools
  • Ability to problem solve / troubleshoot
  • Ability to complete checklists and meet deadlines

 

Preferred Skills

  • General handyman / repair experience
  • Class E License or equivalent or driving experience on vehicles 14’ or longer
  • Previous warehouse experience
  • Aptitude for basic vehicle maintenance
  • Basic computer skills including email, spreadsheet, and online programs (with training)

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Complete a general background check.
  • Negative drug test prior to employment.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with a history of safe driving.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Starting hourly rate: $20/hour (commensurate with experience).
  • Full-time position with health insurance benefits.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) available after 90 days of continuous employment.

 

Impact Description

 

Within 1 month you will:

  • Finish your orientation to the Kanbe’s mission, workflow, staff, current projects and get set up on all Kanbe’s systems
  • Ride along with a delivery driver to see our community in person, see our coolers in operation and understand the daily lifecycle of the Kanbe’s operation
  • Work a shift in the food sorting area learning about the Kanbe’s Redirection program
  • Integrate into the warehouse daily operations, getting to know the facility and equipment.
  • Responding to maintenance requests
  • Performing inspections and preventive maintenance

 

Within 3 months you will:

  • Begin routine inspections of partner store equipment
  • Attain electric pallet jack and forklift certifications
  • Get Class E license
  • Complete proficiency evaluation for driving Kanbe’s fleet vehicles
