Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in a process-driven, revenue earning role (Fundraising, Sales, and/or Business Development).
- Understands the fundamentals of running a successful relationship pipeline.
- Experience managing CRM systems (such as HubSpot).
- Passion for creating and curating meaningful engagements and experiences for corporate audiences.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Enjoys a fast-paced workplace and managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Skills
- An enthusiasm to dive into existing processes and take responsibility for making them better.
- A grasp of how to merge strategic vision with hands-on execution.
- Willingness to go above and beyond for building relationships and cultivating connections.
- Familiarity with the produce industry or food distribution.
- Desire to engage with the Kansas City community and introduce a network to a growing, mission-driven organization in the food access space.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $60,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Full-time (40 hours per week) position with health, vision, and dental insurance and retirement plan with matching.
PTO: Up to 176 hours of paid time off annually, available after 90 days of continuous employment.
Impact Description
- Own: What is this role singularly responsible for? Why does this role exist/what’s the business need?
- Corporate Portfolio Management: Lead the corporate fundraising strategy by being solely focused on deepening relationships with our list of corporate partners and adding new prospects.
- Corporate Communications: Develop communications for corporate audiences, write the corporate newsletter, and keep all partners informed and up to date.
- Sponsorship Solicitation: Solicits corporate sponsorships for events and programs.
- Corporate Event Planning: Oversees the planning and execution of Kanbe’s corporate-facing events.
- Assist: What will this person be involved in, or collaborate with other individuals + teams on?
- Grants: Supports the writing of corporate grants and building networks with corporations that have grants that are a good fit for the organization.
- Event Strategy: Supports the strategic invitation of corporate partners to events.
- Corporate Volunteer Recruitment: Work with all team members to create collaborative and inclusive processes that are consistent with our values.
- Support: Step in and help the team as needed to complete fundraising objectives.
- Teach: What experience does this person need to possess? What should they come in already knowing? What do we need an expert on?
- Revenue Process Management: Understands how to be part of a revenue function at an organization with a strong instinct for best practices and personalization techniques.
- Speaking to Corporate Audiences: Knows how to communicate with the professional community through written and verbal communications.
- Learn: since no one is perfect, what are the “nice to haves”? What can they learn on the job? What do they not know yet that will be critical to their success?
- Food systems: The food system is large, complex, far reaching, and is broken at the systemic level. Being interested in learning about this is crucial to success in this role, but it is not crucial to bring that knowledge.
- Fresh Produce: Kanbe’s is responsible for quickly triaging and delivering fresh produce in the most efficient/effective way possible. This is something that we are more than happy to teach prospective applicants.
- Logistics/trucking: We are at our core, a distribution company. However, this role does not necessarily need to have experience in distribution logistics to be successful.

Within 1 month, you’ll
- Have a comprehensive understanding of organizational structure. Including all team members' roles and responsibilities.
- Have a comprehensive understanding of strategic vision for organization, both short and long term.
- Possess a working knowledge of all operating software, and tools. Including G-Suite, HubSpot, Virtuous, Asana, and Slack.
- Possess a working knowledge of key corporate relationships within the network. Including past sponsors, program investors, and companies we’ve received grants from.
Within 3 months, you’ll
- Documented current Corporate Fundraising process, and uploaded notes to Processes & Procedures document.
- Have developed and started implementing a weekly, monthly, and quarterly process for managing corporate outreach.
- Feel comfortable reaching out to corporations to schedule and attend meetings.
- Possess a keen understanding of corporate donor history and how to build on preexisting relationships.
- Support all corporate event planning and execution.
Within 6 months, you’ll
- Routinely making fundraising asks to companies to support fundraising goals, on top of mastering duties above.
- Demonstrate a willingness to improve the existing process and project manage the design, implementation, and execution of these processes.
- Take full ownership of corporate event execution.
Within 12 months, you’ll
- Have met/exceeded a $500,000 fundraising goal.
- Be the master of corporate development at Kanbe’s.
- Guide vision for this piece of the organization’s development for the following calendar year.
