Job Summary

The Part-Time Mission Delivery Support position works to successfully implement effective membership activities that increase awareness and participation in Girl Scouting through in-person presentations and membership information/registration events. This position also supports the Girl Scout cookie program, retail efforts, in school troop delivery and girl programs.

 

This is a mobile position that requires regular in person meetings, events, and troop formation meetings. Employee must reside within the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area, unless otherwise noted. To be successful in this position, working in the community including evenings and weekends are required.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as primary on-site host for in-school and evening registration events designed to introduce Girl Scouting to potential new girls and volunteers and families.
  • Works with and gives guidance to local volunteers to execute recruitment events.
  • Attends local community festivals, school events (open house, registration, troop formation events, Girl Talks, etc.), as well as other networking opportunities to gather potential member information to increase membership within the organization.
  • Helps with community marketing and relationship building with schools and local businesses.
  • Deliver and place marketing as needed (including taking flyers to schools and placing yard signs.)
  • Provides Council-wide support for programs as needed including council-wide girl programs.
  • Supports the Girl Scout shop both in the office and at Trading post events.
  • Provides staff support at the GSKSMO cookie cupboards as well as council sponsored booths.
  • Serve as a troop leader as needed to support the staff-led delivery model.
  • Data entry and support of all Mission Delivery functions.
  • Ensures Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
  • Maintains adequate record keeping of leads gathered while attending local and community events and communicates/hands off those leads for conversion to full-time council staff.
  • Acts as a brand ambassador for Girl Scouts within the community by using current and consistent brand language and messaging.
  • Stays abreast trends among youth to remain relevant and reactive and communicates those to supervisors in order to best serve girls.
  • Other duties as assigned to promote the successful implementation of GSKSMO’s goals/objectives.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Willingness to lead a group event and to engage potential members in conversation
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some day events
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the greater Kansas City area and surrounding counties to events
  • Computer Literacy, including Outlook and Excel basics
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Reliability and commitment to the Girl Scout mission and team
  • Self-starter, with problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and protect confidential information
  • Valid driver’s license, with access to reliable transportation which is properly licensed and insured
  • Employment is dependent upon the results of a criminal background investigation.
  • Bilingual – a plus, but not required

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with some exposure to outdoor weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • Prolonged periods standing while implementing events.
  • Work hours are flexible including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
  • Employee will be working with both girls and adults.
