Position Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Distribution Driver to join our team. This role involves operating vehicles of various sizes (up to 24’ freightliners), ensuring timely and safe deliveries, procuring produce from wholesalers and donors, and assisting with warehouse operations. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and committed to upholding Kanbe’s standards of excellence.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:


Distribution:

● Safely and efficiently operate Kanbe’s vehicles to deliver and procure produce.
● Monitor vehicle condition, cleanliness, and maintenance needs, reporting any issues promptly.
● Securely transport produce and handle invoices and payments with attention to accuracy and security.
● Conduct quality control checks on all produce delivered to partner store locations.

 

Procurement:

● Retrieve and transport purchased or donated produce from external suppliers to Kanbe’s warehouse.


Warehouse Support:

● Assist with organizing and storing dry and refrigerated produce.
● Maintain cleanliness and order in the fridge, sorting areas, dock, and general warehouse spaces.
● Operate warehouse machinery, including electric pallet jacks.

Qualifications

Required:

● Valid Class E Driver’s Permit (or equivalent).
● Proven experience driving vehicles up to 24’ in length.
● Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks for an 8-hour shift.

● Must be able to perform all essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations.

 

Preferred Skills:

● Electric Pallet Jack certification (training and certification available through Kanbe’s).
● Warehouse or food handling experience.
● Forklift certification (training and certification available through Kanbe’s if required by role).

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

● Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with a history of safe driving.
● Satisfactory results from a DOT Clearinghouse check.
● Passing a driving skills assessment administered by Kanbe’s Operations leadership.
● Negative drug test prior to employment.

 

Compensation & Benefits:

● Starting hourly rate: $20/hour (commensurate with experience).
● Full-time position with health insurance benefits.
● Paid Time Off (PTO) available after 90 days of continuous employment.

 

Impact Goals:


Within 1 Month:

● Complete orientation, driver training, and food handling certification.
● Familiarize yourself with Kanbe’s mission, workflow, and software systems.
● Participate in ride-alongs and log inventory data accurately.
● Learn inventory management, produce handling, and quality control standards.


Within 3 Months:

● Maintain a high safety rating in vehicle handling.
● Successfully complete procurement trips and manage distribution routes.
● Demonstrate proficiency in warehouse organization, invoice processing, and quality control.
