The Assistant Camp Property Manager provides basic groundskeeping, maintenance, custodial services and customer service in accordance with the Council’s policies and standards at Camp Tongawood in Tonganoxie, KS (18634 Evans Rd, Tonganoxie, KS 66086) and may assist with the maintenance of other properties as requested. The position works under the direction of the Camp Property Manager, to ensure for Girl Scout members that the camp property, facilities and equipment provide a safe environment for the users.

 

This position is part-time and works between 20-25 hours/week during the months October-April and the potential of up to 34 hours/week May-September. Hours are scheduled as needed and dependent on time of year and camp activities requiring additional time.

 

Compensation range $18.00-$22.00/hour based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties required to maintain properties, facilities, and equipment in safe condition.
  • Must adhere to council’s policy on personal use of council assets including facilities, tools, equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
  • Under the supervision of the Camp Property Manager, maintains buildings in a safe, attractive, and clean condition. And performs grounds maintenance (ie. mowing, weeding, etc) as needed/directed.
  • Keeps grounds safe, neat, and free of trash and storm debris.
  • Prepares site/buildings for users; aids site users by responding to custodial and maintenance requests in a timely manner and by responding to other site and users’ needs.
  • Follows GSUSA and Council policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes.
  • Operates tractors, mowers, and other machinery or tools in a safe manner as requested and after training.
  • Actively supports and promotes the Council’s and GSUSA’s affirmative action plans and their commitments to diversity throughout the organization.

Education and Experience:

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of related experience; or,
  • Any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the
  • Valid State Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Current vehicle insurance on personal vehicle

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

 

  • Ability to operate camp vehicles, mowers, and tools in a safe manner on camp.
  • Basic knowledge/skills of grounds maintenance and tool/equipment usage necessary for job functions
  • Excellent customer relation skills and ability to communicate and interact with girls, volunteers, and other council staff via phone & in-person in a professional manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operations & maintenance instructions, procedure manuals etc.
  • Ability to manage & perform multiple responsibilities simultaneously, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holiday breaks as needed.

Working Conditions:

 

  • While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and the risk of electrical Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
