Job Summary

 

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Community Outreach, the Outreach Youth Program Leader will implement girl program opportunities across all Girl Scout program age levels. The Outreach Youth Program Leader will mentor, support, train, and deliver programs in accordance with the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), badge, and journey curricula to girls participating in Girl Scouts.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Outreach Program Specialist to implement progressive and bold experiences for girls.
  • Thorough understanding of how to implement youth programs based on goals, objectives, and outcome.
  • Manages grant program delivery as assigned; ensures grant program requirements are met; gathers data collection and evaluation.
  • Handle administrative tasks required for the successful delivery of Girl Scout programming. This includes making purchases, making reservations, booking transportation, customizing fliers, and organizing activities/events.
  • Provides a consistent and positive message to potential girl and adult members about Girl Scouting and the available opportunities and programs to participate in Girl Scouts.
  • Focuses on inclusive and universal design to embrace diverse volunteers and girls.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, as well as program recruitment and registration.
  • Attend all required meetings and training for the position's function.
  • Makes calls to families to communicate information about Girl Scout activities.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Organizing work, setting priorities, attending to details, meeting critical deadlines, and following up with a minimum of direction.
  • Computer skills including proficiency in the most current versions of Windows and Office (Word and Excel), Salesforce and ability to use the Internet.
  • Align behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of the organization.
  • Deliver programming to girls in grades K – 12 and fulfill expectations of Girl Scoutprogram goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Encourage and foster contributions and talents of diverse groups.
  • Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scouts message of pluralism and diversity to members of the council.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of a team and with cross-functional teams
  • Work flexible schedule, including evenings, and weekends as required by position.
  • Ability to build relationships with our Girl Scout families.
  • Ability to provide concise, effective, and clear communication to families about upcoming troops, field trips, camp, and any other Girl Scout activities.
  • Ability to apply theories of youth development in developing programming options.
  • Ability to align behavior with the needs, priorities, and goals of the organization.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and work independently.
  • Ability to effectively meet and deal with the public.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of individuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of girls and adults.
  • Ability to plan, develop, organize, and carry out daily and specialized programs.
  • Ability to interact and build relationships with members of the community and stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree or technical certification required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or any combination of education, training, and experience relevant to the position.
  • Two to four years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Experience organizing field trips and events for children.
  • Experience with record keeping, data entry, preparing clear and concise reports and other written materials for supervisor, colleagues, school staff, girl participants and parents.
  • Valid Driver License with acceptable driving record and proof of current insurance coverage.
  • Employment dependent upon the results of a criminal background investigation.
  • Bilingual – a plus, but not required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in a normal interior environment with some exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dirt and dust, and extreme heat or cold.
  • Must be available to work in the office and community most of the time.
  • This is a people facing position. Most of the work is done in person and in the office.
  • Hours may vary depending on events and time of the year.
