The Director of Recruitment is responsible for developing, evaluating, and adjusting year-round recruitment plans and objectives for girl and volunteer membership growth council wide as well as execution throughout the council area. This individual leads and guides the Recruitment team to successful goal achievement. This is a hybrid position that requires regular in-person meetings. Employee must reside within the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area. To be successful in this position, working in the community including some evenings and weekends is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and provides leadership to the recruitment team: directs, monitors, and evaluates employee performance, providing ongoing feedback; interviews and selects new hires; communicates goals to employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems; ensures employee training and development needs are met.
  • Responsible for establishing and subsequently meeting or exceeding an annual membership recruitment goal for girl and adult members.
  • Designs and implements a comprehensive plan for council-wide girl and adult membership growth.
  • Manages all phases of the membership recruitment strategy from development through implementation; communicates strategy and works with recruitment team and leadership team to develop action plans and carry out execution in the designated areas.
  • Research market data, membership trends, and other pertinent information relevant to identify council’s recruitment needs.
  • Collaborates with marketing on messaging and marketing materials used in recruitment efforts to increase visibility and knowledge of Girl Scouts.
  • Cultivates and develops opportunities to engage community organizations, agencies and leaders, educators, and faith-based institutions to increase awareness and participation.
  • Ensures that recruitment strategies and plans are consistent with the philosophy and mission of Girl Scouting and the council’s overarching strategies and initiatives.
  • Researches and creates innovative ways to recruit and add a broader range of adult volunteers.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Demonstrated confidence to prepare for conversations and visits with potential members/customers by gathering key information and setting strong objectives to achieve successful outcome.

  • Marketing Knowledge – has demonstrated knowledge of the basic principles of marketing (for example, market identification and segmentation, interpretation and use of market data).
  • Demonstrates comfort in presenting the value behind solutions in a way that resonates with what is most important to the potential members/customers of the organization.
  • Sales Ambition and Drive – understands the sales process and management of leads. Sets ambitious goals and energetically and confidently drives to achieve those goals. Recognizes opportunities to “close” and has demonstrated ability to ask for the business/customer transaction. A self-starter who can work independently with minimal oversight and take initiative.
  • Oral and Written Communication abilities (i.e. In person, verbal, written, and/or phone); expresses ideas and facts in a clear and understandable manner appropriate for the individual or group; listens to and comprehends what others are saying; prepares organized and structured presentations; has demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues and communicate effectively with a diverse group of girls, volunteers, and staff.
  • Interpersonal Relations - establishes rapport with others at all organizational levels; respects others; considers and responds to the needs, feelings, and capabilities of others; establishes and maintains an open dialogue with others; has demonstrated ability to market the Girl Scout value proposition through a variety of communication venues including in person, phone, and online.
  • Customer Responsiveness - seeks and acknowledges the views and ideas from customers (for example, internal and external); identifies, prioritizes, and balances customer issues; takes time to answer questions and explain decisions; follows through on commitments to customers in a timely manner; maintains a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Volunteer Relations - understands the functions of volunteers; demonstrates flexibility to meet with volunteers; effectively delegates responsibility; monitors use of volunteers within existing constraints and guidelines; recognizes volunteer accomplishments; works effectively with volunteers.
  • Technical computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, customer relationship management systems, and social networking.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, from an accredited college or university in a related field, and/or equivalent years of experience.
  • Four-Six years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Any combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Valid Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Employment is dependent upon the results of a criminal background investigation.
  • Bilingual – a plus, but not required.
