The American Association of Veterinary State Boards is a not-for-profit membership organization comprised of 63 Member Boards dedicated to the proper and efficient regulation of veterinary medicine in the interest of public protection. The AAVSB is in search of a Full-Time Member Services Manager. This management position is responsible for planning and executing member services strategies and activities to engage members and increase participation in the AAVSB’s program and services. The qualified candidate should possess strong association membership strategy acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills, good judgement, strong budgeting and project management skills, a desire for constant self-improvement, and a genuine interest in developing team members.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day activities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and executing strategic plans for the Member Services team.
  • Introducing new approaches to increase efficiencies and achieve better outcomes.

High-profile projects include:

  • Ownership of the AAVSB’s Annual Meeting & Conference.
  • Data integrity strategies related to the AAVSB’s VIVA database, the sole comprehensive database for veterinary regulation in North America.
  • Administer and manage member surveys, including member benchmarking and satisfaction surveys.

WITHIN 1 MONTH, YOU WILL:

  • Understand the mission, values, and strategic objectives of the AAVSB and desired outcomes.
  • Understand member services staff duties and successfully interact with member services staff, including team meeting facilitation and one-on-one support.
  • Establish relationships with other staff managers, product owners, senior, and executive management.

WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU WILL:

  • Establish relationships with members to understand who they are and their most significant pain points.
  • Create and implement strategies for member services activities based on the AAVSB strategic plan.
  • Implement a plan for the 2024 Annual Meeting & Conference.

WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU WILL:

  • Implement a plan for a more comprehensive and complete database.
  • Provide a report card on member services strategies and activities.
  • Create and implement a plan for membership surveys and data analysis.

WITHIN 12 MONTHS, YOU WILL:

  • Successfully execute the 2024 Annual Meeting & Conference in San Diego, California.
  • Prepare budget requests and outline essential expenses for inclusion in the 2024-2025 budget.
  • Complete projects requiring collaboration with internal and external customers which reached desired outcomes.

Education and Experience: 

  • Required: Five years of demonstrable professional experience in association membership activities, including project, program, and people management. Experience may be substituted by relevant education or certifications.

  • Preferred: Accredited Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of demonstrable professional experience in association membership activities, including project, program, and people management. Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification. Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification.

  • Details: This is a full-time and exempt position. Work is performed under the direction of the Senior Director of Membership and Marketing. 

  • Salary range: $62,000 - $67,000

  • Occasional travel and weekend work might be necessary to fulfill the position’s responsibilities. 

  • The AAVSB is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas. This position may be virtual/remote with the understanding that there will be required company-paid travel to Overland Park, Kansas and within North America throughout the year.
