Girl Scouts is looking for a Retail Sales Specialist who performs a variety of retail shop activities, including operating GSKSMO’s retail functions in an organized, efficient, and accurate manner; providing exemplary customer service; processing transactions; tracking inventory; and maintaining an attractive and inviting online, mobile and in person shopping experience. This position will also have some responsibility with managing inventory and customer service responses for the annual Cookie Program.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers by portraying a positive image of Girl Scouting.
  • Possesses knowledge of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience to provide merchandise information and product selection assistance.
  • Works with the Director of Retail Operations to identify trends and to promote and stimulate the sale of Girl Scout merchandise while meeting the needs of girls, parents, adult members, and visitors.
  • Has a strong attention to detail. Processes customer on-site, email, and mail-order sales and returns, including processing credit card payments, and refunds in accordance with council policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that merchandise orders, receipts, returns, credits, and payment paperwork are completed in a timely manner. Report all delays.
  • Receives, inspects, counts, accepts inventory deliveries, bar codes product, and enters the point of sale system. GSKSMO uses Square. Ensures that merchandise orders, receipts, returns, credits, and payment paperwork are completed in a timely manner. Report all delays.
  • Maintains and monitors inventory and proposes orders for approval to the Director of Retail Operations. Reports discrepancies such as shipment shortages, backorders, and unauthorized substitutions to the Director of Retail Operations. Delivers packages to the appropriate area for mailing. Assists with preparing, coordinating, counting, and processing annual and special inventories.
  • Maintains a flexible work schedule to rotate coverage of retail operations including evenings and Saturdays.
  • Remains current with technology skills, specifically Square.
  • Active participation in the development of environments that foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through words, actions, and attitude.
  • Drive the council van to events as needed.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong communicator with verbal and written fluency.
  • Demonstrated computer, database, and word processing skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Access to reliable mode of transportation.
  • Ability to drive a large profile vehicle.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates or higher, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in retail sales.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to withstand:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Operate office equipment manually.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds at times.
