Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri is seeking Camp Staff Members (Part-Time) at Camp Tongawood in Tonganoxie, KS and Camp Prairie Schooner in Kansas City, MO.

 

The Camp Staff will instruct and operate adventure programs at assigned camp locations and provide leadership to create a fun and safe environment for campers.

 

The spring program season is March through mid-May, with primarily weekend shifts.

The summer season is the end of May through August.

 

Compensation ranging from $14.00-$17.00 based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and instruct at various adventure programs potentially to include: zipline, rappel, low ropes, climbing, archery, slingshots, traverse wall, canoeing & kayaking, tomahawk throwing and other outdoor experiences.
  • Ensure that safety policies and procedures are followed.
  • Ensure the girls are engaged in the Challenge of Choice program.
  • Provide leadership to all campers.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with girls in a recreational/educational setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic practices of youth development, day camp programs and activities for girls ages 6-17.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, skilled communicator with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to teach campers, problem solve and exercise independent judgment.
  • Current membership in Girl Scouts of the USA or willingness to register.
  • Minimum 16 years of age. Background check required.
