Girl Scouts of NE Kansas and NW Missouri is currently seeking to hire a Part-Time Assistant Facilities Manager who will provide basic groundskeeping, maintenance, custodial services and customer service in accordance with the Council’s policies and standards at Camp Prairie Schooner in Kansas City, MO (15300 Ess Rd. Kansas City, MO 64136) and may assist with the maintenance of other properties as requested. The position works under the direction of the Site Manager, to ensure for Girl Scout members that the camp property, facilities and equipment provide a safe environment for the users.

 

This part-time position will average 15-25 hours/week during the months October-April and the potential of up to 25+ hours/week during the months of May-September. Hours are scheduled as needed and dependent on time of year and camp activities requiring additional time.

 

Compensation range for this position is $18 - $20 / hour based on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs duties required to maintain properties, facilities, and equipment in safe
  • Must adhere to council’s policy on personal use of council assets including facilities, tools, equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
  • Assists to provide customer service to site users pre-during-post usage, by checking in site users, responding to custodial and maintenance requests in a timely manner and checking out site users, all in accordance with Council’s policies and expectations.
  • Under the supervision of the Site Manager, maintains buildings in a safe, attractive, and clean condition. And performs grounds maintenance (i.e., mowing, weeding, etc.) as needed/directed.
  • Keeps grounds safe, neat, and free of trash and storm debris.
  • Follows GSUSA and Council policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations and codes.
  • Operates tractors, mowers, and other machinery or tools in a safe manner as requested and after training.
  • Actively supports and promotes the Council’s and GSUSA’s affirmative action plans and their commitments to diversity throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have minimum high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Current vehicle insurance on personal vehicle.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate camp vehicles and equipment in a safe manner on or off camp property.
  • Basic knowledge/skills of grounds/building maintenance and tool/equipment usage necessary for job functions.
  • Must have customer relation skills and ability to communicate and interact with girls, volunteers and other council staff via phone, email & in-person in professional manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operations & maintenance instructions, procedure manuals etc.
  • Ability to manage & perform multiple responsibilities simultaneously, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take direction from supervisor and complete assigned tasks in timely with minimal supervision.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and holiday breaks as needed.

Knowledge/Skills Preferred:

  • Basic carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical systems, land and grounds maintenance, general vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Computer systems operations.

Working Conditions:

While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, work near moving mechanical parts, work in high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and the risk of electrical shock.

  • Prolonged sitting, standing, bending, stooping and walking
  • Walking on uneven terrain
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50lbs
