Girl Scouts of NE Kansas & NW Missouri is in search for a Senior Accountant, based in their Overland Park, Kansas office.  The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring that day-to-day financial operations flow efficiently and effectively including accounts payable, bank reconciliation, and general ledger analysis and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate processing of Accounts Payable and preparation of deposits.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc journal entries for review by CFO.
  • Assist with monthly close, including bank reconciliations and preparation of financial statements, year-end close, preparation of budgets, forecasts, and annual audits.
  • Monitor and resolve banking issues, charges, and discrepancies.
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and fraud prevention tasks.
  • Monthly critical analysis of income statement accounts and budget variances as well as analysis of balance sheet accounts, including restricted and unrestricted funds.
  • Assist CFO with research, compiling and summarizing a variety of statistical data, and preparation of clear and concise reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
  • 5-7 years full spectrum accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit environment
  • Proficient with cloud based accounting software applications, as well as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word; preferred familiarity with Abila MIP
  • Proven ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines with minimum direction
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial reports and identify anomalies for further investigation
  • Experience with state and federal tax exemption laws preferred.
