The Global Orphan Project, Inc. is a Christian nonprofit ministry with a mission to break the orphan cycle through the power of community, commerce, and the love of Jesus Christ. We carry out our mission by equipping and empowering local churches to care for children and families in crisis. We are seeking candidates who understand and are enthusiastic about advancing our organizational mission.

CarePortal is a ministry platform that supports an interdenominational network of Churches, businesses, people who care, and child serving agencies for the good of children and families in crisis in their community. This network is supported by a team that develops relationships, infrastructure, and technology to empower each participating church. The goal is transformation in the lives of hurting children/families, the Church, and child welfare. Learn more at www.careportal.org.

CarePortal is currently searching for a full-time UX/UI Designer to be part of the growing tech team to make CarePortal a world class platform that serves children around the world. The right candidate is focused on improving the overall user experience of the platform, has experience designing with Figma (or similar software, like Sketch), and is passionate about seeing technology used to serve people and expand the Kingdom of God.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how our users utilize our platform by participating in user research methodologies to observe user interactions and behaviors, finding insights, and mapping out opportunities.
  • Define, clearly communicate, and solve issues that are valuable, viable, usable and feasible, using wireframes and prototypes as a main canvas to communicate and collaborate ideas with the team.
  • Design the most minimum shippable product while continuously incorporating feedback by shipping value to users incrementally, mapping out these iterations with deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, timelines, key milestones, etc.
  • Increase internal efficiency in our end-to-end process to support scalability
  • Make sure the overall user experience is cohesive, consistent, flows well, and gets the user to the right next step, aligning with the strategy of the business while solving the problem at hand.
  • Collaborating across all product teams to connect on problems, come up with new ideas, and share solutions with others (this includes playing an active part in our awesome monthly internal UX Chapter and Design Critique meetings).

Qualifications

  • Experience working in an agile environment with product managers, software engineering teams, designers and project managers
  • Proficiency designing with Figma (or similar software like Sketch) across multiple platforms such as mobile, web, iOS, Android, etc.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to present research, ideas, wireframes, tests results, and prototype designs clearly
  • Experience in understanding user problems based on research and insights
  • Prototyping design solutions
  • Understanding usability and user experience principles

The above description is not intended to be comprehensive, but rather a focused list of priorities. Success provides the opportunity to not only build a career, but also bring much-needed support and care to local children and families in crisis in the United States and around the world. Successful candidates, like all GO Project members, are expected to live and work consistent with GO Project’s vision, mission, and values.

The Global Orphan Project and CarePortal offer a competitive benefits package for full-time positions (30+ per week) including health, dental, vision and employer paid life insurance, retirement savings and generous PTO plan.
