Look East is currently hiring for an Account Director. Look East is a full-service public relations agency dedicated to growing consumer trust in the food and agriculture industry. Headquartered in Gladstone, MO, Look East is made up of passionate individuals with diverse communication expertise. 


The Account Director is responsible for providing project and program development, direction, and oversight to and on behalf of Look East in the areas of client service and business development. Look East works with a variety of businesses spanning food and agriculture, including retailers; restaurants; companies that are both established and startups in agtech, animal health, agriculture innovations and products, food processing, executive recruiting; commodity associations; food and agriculture industry organizations, like The Center for Food Integrity.


  • Serve as primary client contact for vendors and clients.
  • Provide consistent and ongoing strategic counsel to clients involved in food and agriculture industries.
  • Accountable for the overall success and retention of assigned clients, programs and projects.
  • Develop, manage and evaluate client communications programs, applying a wide range of strategies to achieve goals.
  • Gather data, draft reports and analyze trends specific to client goals and objectives to provide program results.
  • Asses client program workflow needs and monitors project team performance against program objectives.
  • Maintain client relationships, monitors client satisfaction, and effectively addresses client concerns.
  • Help lead account team to build incremental business.
  • Communicate account status to agency management regularly.
  • Manage project forecasting and account financials including budget planning, allocation and oversight.
  • Complete and oversee time and expense entry to ensure billable targets.
  • Review and approve client invoices and vendor invoicing for accuracy and completeness.
  • Write and edit reports, proposals, and general business correspondence.
  • Initiate and secure new business through development and presentation of proposals, pitching and outreach to prospective clients.


  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a 4-year degree in a related discipline.
  • 7+ years experience in the field or in a related area, or suitable combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Public Relations industry, specifically, food system and office and facilities coordination.
  • Experience in an agency setting, corporate communications, food or agriculture company, organization or association, or consumer products.
  • Exemplary professionalism and customer service skills with external clients, vendors, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Exercise confidentiality concerning client and employer business information.
  • Ability to recognize priorities and perform without supervision within established deadlines.
  • Competent using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have proficient computer skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 25%), frequency determined by client work.
