Versatech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuen, LLC, is a trusted partner providing manufacturing, engineering and consulting services to accelerate growth and optimize profits located in Effingham Illinois, is seeking an Electrical Controls Engineer to join the team.


The Electrical Controls Engineer is a Full-Time, Exempt position that reports directly to the Controls Engineering Manager.


  • Responsible for installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
  • Responsible for writing PLC and Robot programs for assigned jobs/projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring delivered equipment is setup and functional on customers floor (travel required).
  • Responsible for onsite customer support for controls related work.
  • Provides technical support for the engineering process. Technical support includes, but not limited to: PLC and Robot logic design/changes, HMI design/changes, electrical schematic layout, robotic controls, and servo motor controls, and machine vision.
  • Communicate professionally and appropriately to all levels.
  • Appropriately represents mechanical intent, electrical design and safety requirements in the base program.


  • Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Moderately proficient in PC operation including Microsoft Office.
  • Basic competency on the operation of standard office machinery.
  • Capacity to work with diagrams and plans, and to relate schematics to actual objects and products.
  • Ability to reason mathematically with high speed and accuracy.
  • Tendency to be cooperative, non-competitive and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to speak and write fluent English, plus maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfortable with PLCs, HMIs, and higher level automation: robotics (Fanuc and Yaskawa), servos, machine vision.

Educations and Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering or Automation focused degree

Working Conditions

  • Work schedule is 40-45 hours per week but may require more hours depending on department workload. Normal office environment, but occasional shop conditions assisting production or assembly with completion of work for compliance of engineering design.
  • Moderate to heavy physical effort or strenuous activity including walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
  • Finger and wrist manipulation associated with drafting and operating personal computers.
