We are currently seeking an experienced Security Console Operator with commercial high-rise office building experience located in Kansas City, Missouri.

This position is the main receiving point for emergency and non-emergency notifications and information. The Security Console Operator is responsible for monitoring life safety and security systems for multiple properties, garages and parking lots while simultaneously responding to contractors, dispatching Security Officers, and completing data entry and written reports.

Duties

• Perform a complex set of operations which include monitoring (for multiple locations):
  • Digital CCTV systems
  • Computerized fire/life safety systems
  • Access control systems, intercom system, radios, cellular and office desk telephones, and key and access control systems
  • Security systems for other owned and/or managed properties (remotely)
• Log daily activities and incidents to the electronic tracking program
  
• Complete daily Security Console Systems & Equipment Check
• Issue and track keys and access cards
• Responsible for making sure that all security officers see and read memorandums from the Director of Security when they clock in each day
• Complete various forms throughout the day including, but not limited to: Elevator Incident Report, Request for Service, Lost and Found Log. Write reports as required regarding the day’s activities
• Complete quasi-supervisory duties for the purpose of assisting supervisory personnel to ensure that procedures are being followed
• Respond to specified alarms immediately in order to avoid a crisis within the buildings

Qualified candidates must have:

• Reliable transportation
• Computer knowledge required (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
• Ability to stay in control under stressful working conditions
• Ability to resolve difficult or stressful tenant/customer service issues with excellent oral and written communication
  
• A high school diploma or equivalent plus 3 - 5 years prior security experience
• At least one year of supervisory or lead officer experience preferred
• Knowledge of dispatch consoles and related equipment
• Recent seven years of stable work history
• Ability to work various shifts, weekends and holidays including extended hours as required
• Pass CPR & AED certification within one year of hire
• Basic knowledge of, and experience with, fire alarm, life safety, CCTV, radio dispatch procedures, protocols and equipment and card access systems experience preferred
• Must be able to obtain KCMO Private Officers License upon hire. (If have military service, must have Honorable or Under Honorable Conditions discharge on DD-214)

Physical Requirement Include:

• Light lifting – under 20 pounds, occasionally
• Walking and climbing stairs when situations require it, occasionally
• Work from a standing and sitting position (for up to an entire shift) on various surfaces (tile, concrete, carpet)
• Ability to coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using office and security equipment/systems
• Requires the ability to handle a variety of office equipment, communications equipment, keyboards, control knobs, switches, etc
• Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to view, observe and read security monitors above and below eye level and beyond arm length, digital alarm and intercom displays, includes hand/eye coordination
• Hearing capable of recognizing and responding appropriately to nature of sounds, alarms, security systems audible notifications, security radio communications
• Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat
• Constant mental alertness and attention to detail required and work under stressful emergency situations
