    United Way of Greater Kansas City is seeking a full-time Copywriter/Content Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this individual will be responsible for fulfilling the copy development needs for UWGKC staff for various marketing and communication projects - including long- and short-format stories, website content, social media posts, emails, collateral, etc.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with the Marketing team and other departments (Development, Community Impact, etc.) to develop highly engaging content for a variety of marketing materials including brochures, mailers, websites, emails, social media, videos and more.
    • Source, create, produce, edit and publish compelling, engaging stories in long- and short-format to effectively illustrate the impact of our mission.
    • Work with Marketing team to develop, coordinate and maintain content publishing calendars (social media, websites, direct mail, etc.).
    • Work with the Director of Marketing and SVP of Marketing to develop and maintain a consistent brand voice throughout all marketing communications.
    • Work collaboratively with the Graphic Designer and Director of Marketing to create concepts and scripts for video and related media.
    • Manage projects (long-term and short-term) independently - with notice to overall workload, deadlines and ongoing portfolio.
    • Work with the Marketing team to maintain and evolve the website and external media accounts.
      • Some knowledge of HTML/CSS is helpful but not required.

    Qualifications

    • 3-5+ years writing experience required
    • Marketing/ Creative services experience preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree desired in English, Journalism, Marketing Communications or similar discipline.
    • Proven track record of writing that effectively communicate ideas or brands
    • Captivating story-teller, creative- minded and passionate writer
    • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to accurately proofread your own work as well as others’.
    • Experience working with CMS systems
    • Highly collaborative work-style; experience developing concepts from creative brainstorm sessions and execution to measurement
    • Self-starter, able to work independently as well as with the team
    • Excellent presentation and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
    • Ability to prioritize and demonstrate flexibility when handling multiple projects
    • Basic understanding of the non-profit environmental space is a plus
