    The Research Associate Supervisor oversees the technical aspects and daily activities of the Scientific Services functional team. Responsibilities include- directing supervision of Research Associates and/or Research Specialists in the vivarium; conducting interviewing, hiring, and training of employees; planning, assigning, and directing work for employees and well as managing their performance and addressing complaints/resolving problems pertaining to the function of Scientific Services.

    Responsibilities

    • Carry out supervisory responsibilities such as- interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and rewarding/disciplining employees.
    • Create, review, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) relating to animals, technical procedures, and facility issues.
    • Assist managing workload, balancing across Scientific Services to ensure optimal study results- including scheduling, planning, and equipment/resource allocation.
    • Monitor progress of studies during the In-Life phases to verify adherence to study guidelines and time lines.
    • Determine the training required of department staff and work closely with Trainers to ensure compliance to training requirements..  
    • Ensure staff adherence to study and facility conduct as described in study protocol, SOPs, laws and applicable regulations.
    • Ensure all study and facility conduct and documentation are in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) regulations.
    • Investigate and follow up on reports regarding clinical issues with animals, data collection or equipment problems and resolve when possible.
    • Provide management with feedback and answers to questions and concerns regarding studies and technical needs.
    • Ensure Scientific Services work activities are in alignment with Department goals and objectives.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree, in science and/or relevant experience
    • Ideally 3-5 years relevant working experience
    • Ideally LATG and/or CMAR certification
    • Can lead and motivate employees, acting as role model.
    • Communicate effectively with all levels of individuals throughout the company.
    • Can work in a high stress environment- he/she is organized, and performance driven.
    • Can identify and resolve problems effectively
    • Ability to read and interpret documents- such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, software manuals, study documents, and procedure manuals
    • Ability to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Able to adapt easily to new software programs.
    • Holiday/Weekend/Evening Work hours may be required
    • Ability to lift 26 to 50 pounds
