    Do you want a fast-paced, exciting and innovative career in research? Vince and Associates Clinical Research is currently looking for a Laboratory Specialist I for their Overland Park, KS campus.

     

    Altasciences Clinical Research, encompassing Algorithme Pharma, Vince and Associates Clinical Research and Algorithme Pharma USA, is one of the largest early phase clinical research organizations (CROs) in North America. As a leading, full-service CRO, we have extensive expertise in the execution of a wide range of Phase I/II clinical studies, especially complex trials in healthy normal volunteers and patient populations.

     

    The Laboratory Specialist is primarily responsible for handling, processing and storing each biological sample collected. They are responsible for tracking sample inventory and sample shipping. This role sorts sample inventory and prepares it for shipment to external laboratories as well as creates manifests to accompany the sample shipments. They are also responsible for the monitoring and maintenance of the sample storage refrigerators and freezers.

    Responsibilities

    • Receive and accurately log each biological sample collected-understanding the importance of timed and accurate receipt and efficient sample handling and processing
    • Follow detailed study specific processing instructions or clinical flow sheets (for example weigh and measure volume of urine, mix urine collections prior to aliquot, add preservative, flash freeze sample, etc.)
    • Record detailed information related to the task performed at the time the task is completed
    • Understand and follow the protocol for safe and efficient sample centrifugation including temperature settings, speed settings, balance and timing
    • Use scales and calibrated pipettes and/or bulb pipettes
    • Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment
    • Work closely with processing peers during peak processing hours- moving from one study to another , while maintaining the study specific instructions in the process
    • Monitor refrigerator/freezer temperatures and record on applicable logs
    • Adhere to OSHA and IATA regulations and guidelines
    • Clean & maintain lab refrigerators and freezers

     

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED (required), College Degree (preferred)
    • 1 year clinical research field experience
    • Working knowledge of sample processing, using pipettes and centrifuges
    • Demonstrated ability to use logic and reasoning while performing tasks
    • Detailed, oriented and organized
    • Able to receive real time performance feedback
    • Willing to wear required PPE
    • Fundamental understanding of computer operations and applications to perform duties
    • Required to be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and stand or sit for extended periods of time
