    Three Dog Bakery, a client of OMNI Human Resource Management, is the Original Bakery for Dogs and a pioneer in the premium dog treat industry. Since 1989, they have been manufacturing and distributing delicious, all-natural dog treats to Food/Drug/Mass and Pet Specialty retailers in the US and Internationally.

     

    Due to the current and continued outstanding growth and success of the organization, Three Dog Bakery seeks a Director of Business Development to provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation and achievement of sales and profit goals, strategies, tactics and budgets for both new and existing Three Dog Bakery customers and products within a portfolio of Food/Drug/Mass and Pet Specialty accounts.

    Responsibilities

    The Director of Business Development position is based in Three Dog Bakery's Kansas City headquarters, but will require significant national travel, primarily in the central, southwest and west regions of the U.S.  This role is for both a hunter and business builder.  The ideal candidate will provide leadership and direction in the development, implementation and achievement of sales goals.  This includes bringing on new customers, achieving budgeted sales and profit goals with new and existing customers, developing strategies and tactics to increase profitable sales for new and existing Three Dog Bakery customers for Food/ Drug/ Mass and Pet Specialty accounts and products.

     

    This role reports to a highly-respected global sales leader who will partner with this individual, along with a strong sales administrator, to ensure company goals and client expectations are consistently met and exceeded. 

    • Secure viable opportunities with targeted retail customers, develop strategies to secure new customers, gaining new distribution at existing customers, growing sales and increasing margins via product selection, enhanced shelf space and developing and implementing profitable promotional programs.
    • Ensure retention of existing business through strong partnerships/ relationships with buying teams at all levels.
    • Ensure all business relationships, negotiations and agreements are managed and conducted legally, ethically, and in accordance with the highest professional standards.
    • Provide leadership in promotional/ seasonal opportunities to ensure that each program is executed to meet or exceed retail partner’s expectations and Three Dog Bakery’s sales and profit goals.
    • Demonstrate a high level of problem solving skills and strong financial acumen.  Analyze and communicate financial information in an accurate, objective and straightforward manner.
    • Drive for results, with the ability to motivate others to achieve business goals through sales and business processes.
    • Manage a wide range of responsibilities and prioritize to ensure key objectives are met.

    Qualifications

    • BA/BS degree preferred in Business, Marketing, Advertising or related field.
    • Demonstrated success as a sales professional in an organization of similar size/scope, including the achievement of personal sales goals and the development and implementation of company sales strategies, plans, and business initiatives.
    • Strong financial acumen, including experience in sales forecasting and P&L accountability, strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining strong business relationships with retail partners and co-workers. 
    • Exceptional negotiation and persuasion skills with the ability to overcome objections.
    • Experience and demonstrated selling success in the retail pet industry, either Food/Drug/Mass or Pet Specialty strongly preferred, but not required.
    • Ability and willingness to travel up to 30-50% to secure new customers, establish/ maintain business relationships with clients to achieve company goals.
    • Must have robust technical skills with MS Office Suite, emphasis on Excel and sales software.

    Progressive leadership is at the helm. Compensation and benefits are competitive and will be dependent upon experience and perceived value to this organization. Relocation package not included.
