Our client, National Advisors Trust Company is a federally chartered trust company with assets of more than $8 billion. Founded in 2001, NATC provides first-class trust and custodial services with professional attention delivered at favorable costs. With its strong and growing asset base, the company is one of the largest independent trust companies in the nation. Due to their continued growth, they currently seek a Trust Counsel.



  • Performs due diligence reviews of trust instruments and asset holdings to ensure current accounts are suitable and prudent. Utilizes advanced knowledge of legal concepts to manage risk by reviewing highly complex legal documents and rejecting unsuitable instruments (e.g., documents too ambiguous or administratively burdensome, legal or regulatory impediments).
  • Works with attorneys and client's other outside advisors to make necessary modifications to improve suitability of prospective trusteeships where necessary in light of our directed trustee business model or other impediments
  • Provides estate and trust expertise for the internal and external partners (Relationship Managers, Sales/Marketing team, Investment Advisors, etc.).
  • Proactively partners with the Investment Advisor/Relationship Manager to identify consultative opportunities and to further consult with our partners to develop an appropriate strategy to develop the client relationship.
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of compliance, regulatory and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


  • Juris Doctorate required.
  • LLM, CFP, CTFA, or trust administration experience a plus.
  • Admission to South Dakota Bar
  • Proven ability to think and perform strategically, bringing innovative solutions to complex client or prospect situations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, CRM)
