For more than 30 years, reStart Inc. has provided housing and services to homeless youth, families, men, and women to end homelessness in the Kansas City community.


A pioneer in the field, reStart is the only homeless agency in Kansas City serving all homeless populations, including singles, couples, gay, straight and transgender individuals, as well as youth ages 12-18, non-traditional families, persons with HIV/AIDS and individuals with substance use and mental health related issues.


They are seeking a Hospitality Coordinator to join their team.



Under the supervision of the Volunteer Manager, the Hospitality Coordinator will manage critical functions associated with basic needs of clients and agency, including:


  • In kind donation coordination and distribution
  • On-site facility reception/hospitality
  • Event coordination (non fund raising)


Primary Responsiblities

  • Act as a steward of the organization’s in-kind resources.
    • Ensure all reStart in-kind receipt and processing activities are in full compliance with best practices, applicable agency and regulatory codes, policies, and standards.
    • Ensure the satisfaction of all those working or receiving in-kind services within reStart programs.
  • Provide day to day management of agency facility receptions and hospitality activities. Ensure all clients, staff, volunteers and others utilizing the services of reStart ‘s facilities are met with respect and properly directed within the facilities and that public environments are welcoming.
  • Manage all functions as assigned within budgets and ensure all staff and functional areas as assigned adhere to all reStart policies and procedures. Ensure all required reporting is done in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Foster and ensure positive, collaborative relationships within and among all staff, vendors, networking partners, and related external resources.
  • Provide direct supervision to all staff and volunteers associated with functional areas as assigned. Foster a workplace that results in the development of a high performing team of professionals and staff.
  • Provide support to Volunteer Manager in critical volunteer activities

Primary Tasks & Duties:

  • Coordinate the collection and distribution of all in kind donation.
  • Provide coaching and counsel to all staff and volunteers working in the reception areas.
  • Responsible for planning and execution (as part of development team) for non fund-raising events, including but not limited to summer and winter receptions, Volunteer Recognition Ceremony, Staff Recognition Reception, Point in Time.
  • Assist with agency special event as requested.
  • Assist with volunteer work groups as requested including occasional weekend and evening hours.



  • Demonstrate a high level of skill at building business relationships and partnerships internal and external to the organization.
  • Ability to travel throughout metro area to reStart program sites as needed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain clearly defined reports on measurements of activities to include statistics, benchmarking, billing information and service evaluations.
  • Demonstrate a high level of problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal savvy and influence skills in all dealings with staff, clients, consumers, as well as external resources, employers, and related resources.
  • Ability to use technology for the efficient and accurate input of information, as well as timely and accurate reporting.
  • Demonstrated success and expertise in project management, as well as staff supervision, within a program or organization of similar size and scope.
  • Proven organizational skills in the development, coordination and implementation of programs, processes and procedures as defined above.
  • Proven interpersonal skills in coaching, problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to assimilate vast amounts of information and present concisely and accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance.
  • Must be alcohol and drug free.

This position will come into contact with a large amount of confidential and sensitive information and therefore, must keep all information confidential at all times both with other reStart employees and individuals outside of reStart.  The individual hired will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement as part of his/her employment with reStart.
