The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City (RMHC-KC) is to reduce the burden of childhood illness on children and their families by providing a "home away from home" while the children are receiving medical care in Kansas City-area hospitals. On any given night, RMHC-KC serves 87 families. In 2016, their Houses and Family Room provided comfort and care to 7,161 families, as well as opened their doors to support over 57,000 visits from family and friends of in-patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital .

 

This progressive organization is seeking a part-time Guest Services Associate to join their mission-driven team. The schedule is Sunday-Wednesday; 11pm-7am. Individuals who are looking to make a difference in the lives of children and their families are encouraged to apply!

Responsibilities

Reporting to the House Manager, the Guest Services Associate (GSA) oversees internal House operations while on shift. The GSA is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and supportive environment. This role will also ensure that services are provided in a manner consistent with current RMHC-KC policies and procedures.

  • Create a comfortable and supportive environment for guests' families who are experiencing stress by greeting them and responding to their questions, requests and concerns.
  • Complete regular and routine cleaning tasks across the campus throughout the shift to ensure all common spaces utilized by families are clean, organized and well stocked.
  • Provide general oversight of the House, including maintaining awareness of individuals and groups accessing the house.
  • Meet with outgoing/incoming staff at the beginning and end of each shift to relay important information.
  • Calmly manage crisis situations; respond to all emergency situations and alarms.

Qualifications

  • Two-year degree in human services, hospitality or related degree required; Four-year degree preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Previous office administration or customer service experience.
  • Mature and dependable with the proven ability to utilize good judgment and solid decision-making skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills and a desire to work with people.

  • Ability to handle crisis or other difficult situations with confidence and compassion.

  • Aptitude to learn and operate agency database applications.
  • Availability to attend staff meeting once a quarter during daytime or evening hours.

  • Availability to work Sunday-Wednesday; 11pm-7am.
