The Council is dedicated to the 105 year-old Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place. This well-established organization is currently seeking a Membership Manager, Troop Support to service Lee's Summit, Greenwood, Belton, Raymore, and Peculiar. Service areas are always subject to change during employment.

Reporting to the Regional Director, this role is responsible for supporting and retaining adult volunteers and girl members in assigned area by providing mentoring, developing and delivering resources, and developing and maintaining partnerships to assist volunteers in their work with girls. This role provides support for policies, standards and business practices to ensure quality Girl Scout program delivery. Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of a regional team and in assigned partnerships to further the mission, goals and strategic priorities of the Council.
  • Design and manage a volunteer staffing plan for membership retention for girls and adults in assigned areas; develop or adapt job descriptions to meet volunteer and organizational needs; recruit, select, appoint, train and supervise volunteer managers; develop an annual action plan for the retention of Troop Leaders; interpret policies, standards and procedures and monitors compliance.
  • Manage the delivery of Girl Scouting within an assigned area; provides for a variety of delivery patterns including troops, groups, interest groups and individual membership; maximize the use of community resources; oversee the delivery of the program in accordance with national program and health and safety standards.
  • Provide support in the delivery of Girl Scout program to reach membership through multiple delivery options including: day camp, service unit events, troop camping, troop trips, troop money earning projects; monitor programming for quality and compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Serve as the Council liaison with Troop Leaders and administrative service unit volunteers; provide support, resources, conflict resolution and assistance with troop program activities including but not limited to product sales.
  • Optimize use of technology to support customer service for volunteers.

Qualifications

  • Two to four years of progressively responsible experience in volunteer management and mentoring, strategic planning, budget development, conflict resolution and membership retention.
  • Ability to research, compile and summarize data for presentations.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and meet critical deadlines with minimal direction.
  • Proficient in current versions of Windows and MS Office (Word and Excel) and ability to use the Internet.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Previous Girl Scout employment, volunteer experience or membership desired, but not required.
  • Employment is dependent upon the results of a criminal background investigation.
  • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
