The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City (RMHC-KC) is to reduce the burden of childhood illness on children and their families by providing a "home away from home" while the children are receiving medical care in Kansas City-area hospitals. On any given night, RMHC-KC serves 87 families. In 2016, their Houses and Family Room provided comfort and care to 7,161 families, as well as opened their doors to support over 57,000 visits from family and friends of in-patients at Children’s Mercy Hospital .

 

This progressive organization is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join their mission-driven team.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the organization's Human Resource policies and procedures. This includes employment, internships, training and development, benefits administration, employee relations, compensation and performance management.

  • Oversee and implement the policies and procedures related to the recruitment of new employees from the creation of job descriptions through the onboarding process.
  • Ensure that the employee handbook and other HR policies are up to date.
  • Work with the Associate Director of Houses and other staff on the oversight and management of interns.
  • Develop and implement professional development for staff utilizing internal and external resources. Coordinate performance review process.
  • Work with Directors and supervisors to provide guidance and assistance with daily Human Resources questions and issues, and provide mediation as needed.
  • Manage the compensation ranges and work to update those ranges on a periodic basis.
  • Coordinate benefits and insurance enrollment process. Meet with brokers as needed and coordinated staff participation in benefits enrollment.
  • Work with the Director of Finance to ensure all 401k enrollment and education needs are met.
  • Review payroll for reasonableness and for any needed changes before submitting to payroll processor.
  • Liaison to Glue Crew (internal, employee-led group focused on kudos, teambuilding and culture).
  • Coordinate logistics for staff meetings.
  • Ensure all claims for unemployment are responded to in a timely manner.
  • Provide feedback to Director team on initiatives to make RMHC-KC a “best place to work.”
  • Work with Director of Finance for all Workers Compensation claims and annual insurance audit.
  • Provide Director of Finance reports for journal entries such as payroll, benefits, and worker’s compensation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years' relevant human resources experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting demands and deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mature and proactive with strong customer service and community relations skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel and Word) required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Mission-driven with a passion for the mission of RMHC.
