For more than 30 years, reStart Inc. has provided housing and services to homeless youth, families, men, and women to end homelessness in the Kansas City community.


A pioneer in the field, reStart is the only homeless agency in Kansas City serving all homeless populations, including singles, couples, gay, straight and transgender individuals, as well as youth ages 12-18, non-traditional families, persons with HIV/AIDS and individuals with substance use and mental health related issues.


They are seeking a Maintenance Worker (PRN) to assist the Director of Operations & Administration in providing a safe, secure and clean environment for reStart. This individual will be on call to fill in for vacations and when staff is unable to work their assigned shifts. There are no guaranteed hours or schedule for this position.


  • Maintain the entrance, exit ways and offices.
  • Cleaning duties including the lobby, basement, public restrooms, etc. and ensuring the restroom supplies are fully stocked.
  • Empty the trash in staff offices and on the first floor.
  • Change batteries in smoke detectors.
  • Basic plumbing, electrical and maintenance work.
  • Clean elevator tracks daily.
  • Assist contractors at all sites.
  • Clean vacant units after clients move out.
  • Other work as assigned by the supervisor.


  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group environment.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to drive required.
  • Must be drug and alcohol free; passing criminal records checks required.
  • Must be willing to submit to random drug testing according to State and Federal requirements.
