OMNI serves as the human resources business partner of Visit Overland Park. We are assisting them in their search for a Social Media Manager to join the organization’s leadership team.  

 

The mission of Visit Overland Park (formerly known as the Overland Park Convention & Visitor's Bureau) is to facilitate tourism development and promote Overland Park as a convention, leisure and sports destination.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, the Social Media Manager will be responsible for planning, executing, measuring and growing Visit Overland Park’s social media presence. This role will identify trends and leverage consumer insights to build a social media platform and blogger strategy that drives engagement. The Social Media Manager has a strong understanding of social platforms ecosystem and possesses a passion for creating content. Ideal candidate is enthusiastic about bringing the destination to life, by exploring and writing about Overland Park: trails and parks, things to do, restaurants, attractions, etc.

 

The Social Media Manager will be a creative storyteller who understands how to connect with social audiences using great copy, images, video and interactions.

 

  • Establish, set the strategy for and managing Visit Overland Park’s social media presence on social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Define blogger strategy that includes, identifying, sourcing and travel bloggers. As well as, creating and authoring content for Visit Overland Park blog.
  • Work with internal and external community partners and constituents to spearhead social channel growth, including determining content proposition, branding and ongoing optimization and analysis.
  • Develop, schedule and support publishing of content for social platforms with relevant content; both original, sourced and curated.
  • Utilize content from partners & UGC (user-generated content).
  • Increase follower/fan growth through unique content and community engagement.
  • Develop and maintain a weekly/monthly posting schedule across multiple platforms for your channels.
  • Develop channel appropriate content and campaigns to support editorial calendar.
  • Write engaging copy for social posts, content titles & descriptions and post across multiple platforms
  • Build and maintain large communities of passionate followers and enthusiasts on Visit Overland Park’s social platforms using organic, earned and paid audience-building techniques.
  • Staying current on changes to social platforms.
  • Build and amplify a consistent brand, channel voice and tone.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management or Communications.
  • 3-5 years’ professional experience managing multiple social media channels.
  • Professional experience engaging, connecting and building an audience across multiple social channels through creative storytelling, visuals, video and copy.
  • Passionate about travel, food or experiencing new things.
  • Pride of Kansas City and the Overland Park area.
  • A creative storyteller who understands how to connect with social audiences using great copy, images, video and interactions.
  • Expert level understanding of at least two of the following social platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Snapchat and social ecosystems.
  • Proven track record of innovation and challenging accepted wisdom.
  • Demonstrated ability to dig deep and deliver causal insights.
